Renovation of the Krvavec ski apartment

A small intervention in the heart of Slovenian Alpine tourism.

By purchasing a hotel apartment just below the krvavž ski resort, the client wanted to ensure accessibility and proximity to one of Slovenia’s most popular ski resorts. With a modest floor area of just 24 m² and an average family size of four, the biggest design challenge was to ensure functionality, adequate privacy and comfort for the whole family. The resulting design features bunk beds arranged in a row and curtained off. The character of the sleeper car flirts with the cosiness of an Alpine chalet. The dining table remains the central space, with the kitchenette placed close to it. The bathroom is moved to the entrance of the room.

The ceiling, walls and floors are clad in multi-varnished brushed pine. The robust yet sensory tactility of the uniform cladding visually enhances the space of the apartment, while highlighting its direct contact with the human body through touch, proximity and the experience of everyday use.

The experience of a day and night of a winter holiday in an apartment is intertwined between travelling by camper van and staying in a chalet in the Alpine mountains. Indeterminacy, but at the same time a highly defined identity, ensures that the small space transcends its geometric limitations through the intimacy of experience.
