Furnishing of an apartment on Jurčkova cesta in Ljubljana

We recreated the atmosphere of an oriental casbah by intertwining the themes and characters of the apartment.

Modern multi-family housing construction nowadays rarely has the luxury of three-way orientation. For the most part, modern tenants and homebuyers are “condemned” to one-side-only lighting. Their perception of changing daily conditions and the passage of time is reduced to the same part of the day.

In contrast to the above, the clients managed to buy a terrace apartment on Jurčkova cesta, which is open on three sides of the sky. This allows occupants to follow the varieties of morning, midday and evening light equally from different parts of their apartment.

We have designed a residential interior where individual rooms are connected to each other by views through transverse and longitudinal views. The design is slightly more recessed and interwoven in the sleeping area, but opens out to the larger living area. Passageways and narrowings are opened and closed by large sliding elements made of perforated plywood.

The particularity of the design of the apartment lies in the richness of the ambiences, between which the occupant moves relatively freely, without having the feeling of moving from room to room, from room to room. The perception of spatial experiences is varied, but continuous and rich.
