Regional nomination for the Golden Pencil Award

The expert jury of the Slovenian Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning has included the projects Renovation of Slovene Street and Victory Square among the regional nominations of the Maribor region for the Golden Pencil Award.

Architects and landscape architects have worked to create high quality pedestrian and cycling spaces in the redevelopment of the city’s central public space. The revitalisation of the public space has re-established key urban trajectories derived from the urban design of architect Feri Novak. With the planting of more than 90 trees and underground rainwater storage systems for watering vegetation during seasonal water shortages, they are a model example of sustainable urban regeneration.

We sincerely hope that the qualities identified will be a model for all future interventions in the public urban space.
